ENDOUROLOGY:
Laser Prostatectomy:
Laser Prostatectomy is a procedure to treat Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH), an enlarged prostate gland which causes blockage of urinary flow.
A minimally invasive procedure using a scope and laser technology, the surgeon removes or shrinks the extra tissue that prevents flow of urine. The laser prostatectomy offers prostate surgery with minimal complications like bleeding and TUR syndrome and can even be done for large prostate glands. The department of renal sciences is proud to have state of art Thulium LASER technology for laser procedures.
Renal stone diseases:
Various procedures like ESWL by state-of-the-art Dornier lithotripter, RIRS (Retrograde Intrarenal Surgery) with Holmium LASER lithotripsy and PCNLs are offered at the center.
The combination of LASER and ESWL makes it possible for the urologist to give 100 percent stone free rate after the stone surgery with minimal complications.
Many sub centric stones are treated at the facility at Day Care basis.
LASER TURBT:
Bladder tumors are treated with Thulium LASER assistance avoiding bleeding and peri-operative complications like clot retention and bladder perforation.
Uro-oncology and Reconstructive Urology:
Mediheal group of hospitals regularly does Laparoscopic prostatectomy, laparoscopic radical nephrectomy and partial nephrectomy.
The hospital does regular Laparoscopic radical prostatectomy procedures- probably the only facility to do so in Kenya.
Apart from this, Various laparoscopic reconstructive procedures like pyeloplasty, laparoscopic ureteric reimplantation are routinely performed at this facility.
This center also offers laparoscopic procedures for pediatric conditions like undescended testes and ureteric reimplantation.
Female urology-
Female reconstructive urological procedures like Laparoscopic pelvic floor repairs and TVT-O s are commonly performed.
Transplant services-
Mediheal group is proud to have done more than 150 cases of transplantation at the facility with more than 95 % success rate. We offer laparoscopic donor nephrectomies for all patients making the transplant procedure more convenient for donors.
Andrology-
Microsurgical andrological reconstructive procedures: Micro-surgical varicocelectomy, Microsurgical vasectomy reversals, Micro-surgical vaso-epididymostomy, Fertility preserving hernia and hydrocele repair Sperm retrieval-microsurgical/open (Microdissection TESE). With the advent of microsurgical techniques pregnancy rates improved considerably. Previously azoospermia and severe oligospermic patients who had given up hope for biological fatherhood can be potentially treated. We have microsurgeons with vast experience and also state of the art surgical microscope backed by competent embryologists (in case of sperm banking).
